According to The History of Jackson County, the first church on this site was consecrated on October 1878. A fire, which evidently started in the furnace room, destroyed the building on November 16, 1949. Construction of the present couch began immediately but was completed until 1953. In the decades since, there have been many additions, such as a new educational wing added to the church in 1969.
